Roger and Kay Sprague present, "The Second Trail of Tears (The Migrant Mother Story)". Be there for
the telling of the story of a woman and her struggles in life. A woman that "never" gave up hope for the
future, who overcame whatever the world tossed in her path. This woman (Florence Thompson) will live again, through
her grandson, to tell her story of loss and hardship.
Your students or organization will come to see and understand just what the "Great Depression" was and what
it did to the people of America. They shall hear how, if she had only had an education, she may not have been forced
to work in the fields of California, and the photograph would never have been taken.

(We were) "...very much impressed....the
vast amount of research you've clearly done....With the sense of
fairness... sensitivity with which you deal with the sometimes uneasy
issues of political agendas, personalities, and the potential feeling of
exploitation of the photograph subject toward the photographer."

pleasure to hear you describe your grandmother's experiences. Thank you...
for coming and sharing your family's history with us. I took one of your

"Thank you for leading a discussion for our
recent Grapes of Wrath program. Your contribution was a critical element in
making this program successful. We're so pleased that you were able to share
the photos that so descriptively showed the plight of the Dust Bowl
migrants. And your personal connection offered a special dimension to the
discussion. The Stanisluas County Library will likely apply for funding to
conduct similar programs in 2003 and 2004. We'll keep you informed of our
future participation in the "California Stories" program.
